Most Rev. Joseph N. Perry, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Chicago sat down with us in June 2024 to discuss his favorite saint, his episcopal motto, and the history of the Saintly Six (the six individuals of African descent who are currently on the road to sainthood). Bp. Perry also reflects on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, the project he feels proudest of through his work with USCCB. What he finds most rewarding about being a bishop -- being with people in the important moments of their life -- and what is most challenging -- helping people to understand what bishops are doing and why they are doing it, all working toward getting into the kingdom.
