National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) are under scrutiny as some Republicans argue that the government should stop funding them. At a hearing last week, GOP lawmakers, led by Marjorie Taylor Greene, chastised the leaders of both organizations for what they insist is partisan programming. House Republicans have introduced the 'No Propaganda Act' to end all government support and eliminate the $535 million already approved for public broadcasting this year. Senator John Kennedy and other Republicans advocate defunding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, while Senator Marsha Blackburn proposes shifting the networks to nonprofit status. Meanwhile, Democrats defend public broadcasting, citing its importance, particularly in rural communities. President Trump has also supported the effort, calling NPR a 'liberal disinformation machine.' Congress hopes to get something done soon and may include it in the massive bill Republicans are working on to put President Trump's agenda into action. Capitol Hill Correspondent Erik Rosales reports.
