On this first Sunday of Advent, Dr. Scott Hahn kicks off our Advent Journey by walking us through the meaning of Advent. The word "Advent" itself denotes the arrival of a notable person— for us Christians, it means the Messiah: Christ the Lord. In this season of Advent, we prepare for Jesus' arrival at Christmas (which immediately follows Advent).
But Advent is more than just preparation for Christmas (Christ's First Coming), but also a reminder to prepare for Christ's Second Coming. But before the Second Coming takes place, St. Bernard of Clairvaux reminds us of a Third Advent. And this Advent takes place in between Christ's First Coming and His Second.
So that means there are Three Advents?
In this video, Scott Hahn explains these three different types of Advents and shows us where these three Advents are found in Scripture.
