Some good priests are falsely accused, and undergo what some might term a public crucifixion. While not bloody, they are every bit as painful to the heart and soul of such holy priests. A prime example of this was Padre Pio, who was falsely accused of sex abuse in the confessional.

He could not defend himself, but submitted in humble obedience to the Church, as he awaited the investigation to clear his name.

In his darkest hours, he turned to Our Lord and Our Lady, pleading with them to vindicate him.
His years of suffering in quiet and humble obedience led not only to his complete vindication, but to his sainthood, and to his continued miracles that he now works from Heaven. He is an example to all priests, especially those unjustly accused.
