House Republicans passed the budget blueprint for next year with a narrow vote of 216 to 214. Two Republicans, Thomas Massie and Victoria Spartz, voted against it, citing concerns that the resolution lacked spending cuts and would increase the deficit. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune promised they would find at least $1.5 trillion in savings while protecting essential programs. Despite this, Massie expressed doubts, and Democrats criticized the potential impact on Social Security and Medicare. This vote marks the first step in the reconciliation process, with further negotiations ahead. Capitol Hill Correspondent Erik Rosales reports.
