Over the weekend, more than 500 Missionaries of Mercy from around the world traveled to the Vatican for the 2025 Jubilee. For three days, the priests gathered in prayer to renew their mission of bringing God's forgiveness through the Sacrament of Confession. Instituted by Pope Francis in 2015 during the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, these priests were granted special authority to forgive sins typically reserved for the Apostolic See. The event included the "24 Hours for the Lord" initiative at the Basilica of Sant'Andrea della Valle, a global Lenten tradition emphasizing prayer and reconciliation. Although Pope Francis could not attend due to his recovery, he sent a written message expressing gratitude and encouragement. Pilgrims shared their experiences of encountering God's mercy, and the Missionaries walked through the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica. The Jubilee event concluded with Mass presided over by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, who urged the Missionaries to continue reminding the faithful of God's immense love. EWTN Vatican journalist Bénédicte Cedergren has more.
