Senate Republicans have introduced a new budget blueprint, aiming to advance key elements of President Trump’s agenda. The outline directs congressional committees to craft their own proposals to meet spending targets. It includes $175 billion for border security, $150 billion for defense, raising the debt ceiling by $5 trillion, and making the 2017 tax cuts permanent. While Republicans argue that their approach will spur economic growth and strengthen national security, Democratic leader Chuck Schumer accuses Republicans of fudging the tax numbers and warns that it will create an economic disaster. Senator Thune says he plans to pass the resolution over the weekend. Over in the House, Speaker Mike Johnson says work will begin on the resolution next week. Both leaders hope that Congress will pass a final budget resolution by Easter. The next step would be drafting a massive bill with the president’s agenda. Capitol Hill Correspondent Erik Rosales reports.
